I've had this monitor since about 1998/99 and its worked perfect since its a CRT monitor. I notice a while ago that when i watched films on my computer i have to enhance it by going into the nvidia settins to brighten it and increase the gamma and so forth, now just recently its got worst everyday since last week saturday its just been getting duller and slowly dark, i wanna know why but i'm thinking its the obvious that its gettin old but i didnt think that, that made a difference.
Also if i need to get a new monitor what is the better one to get out of the three CRT/TRT/LCD?
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks In Advance!!!
Well you monitor is dying slowly, and it looks like it had a pretty good run.
As for a new monitor, what do you use your computer to do? Text, Graphics, Movies, Gaming?

Everthing u just said.... i use it for nearly everything possible u can use a computer to do! Hehehe!!!
i had the same problem on my crt after 6+ years of use (i just killed it cuz it tumbled from the cart :/).
i compensated for that by turning up the gamma/brightness in my nvidia control panel.
it helped quite a bit, but it's def not perfect.
Well, I do all of the same as well. I'm thinking of buying the Viewsonic VX924 LCD monitor.
What is your budget? That's probably the biggest question.

i'm thinking its the obvious that its gettin old but i didnt think that, that made a difference.
CRT's have a finite lifespan - it's getting old alright. Many monitors will still do ok after 6 years, but it really depends on how often they're used. When buying a new CRT monitor, you can extend the useable tube life by lowering the contrast somewhat - I do this on all CRT's I buy from the Dell P991 I'm using now to the JVC flatscreen TV I got last year. The Dell is a 2.5 year old refurbished model and still has full brightness.
