i have read many posts on this forum and many of them talking about checking for leaking backlight, dead pixels, faulty contrasts, etc etc... are there definit standard procedures and tests i can perform to inspect and diagnose a LCD from head to toe in order to detect these problems early on? my previous monitor died on me yesterday, it suffered many problems include leaking backlight and faulty backlight starter. Unfortunately it developed these problems a year after i purchased it thus i can't claim my warrenty. The leaking backlight caused many problems include its untimely death after three years of usage. I bought a dell 2005FWP lately, hopefully with the info provided here i can detect these problems before warrenty period ends.
what i've found out so far:
partial method to detect dead pixels:
Being paranoid about dead pixels, I quickly change my Vin Diesel background (you probably all think I pitch for the other team about now, huh?) to a solid white color and search for any dead/stuck pixels. Nothing. Change to solid black, nothing. Great.
partial method to detect leaky backlight:
The POST screen and the Windows bootscreen are great opportunities to check for backlight leakage.
However this is not enough, i need specific cue as to what to look for in term of searcing backlight leakage and potential leakage in hiding.
While some people talked about faulty contrast, i do need to know how do you determine what constitute faulty contrast and what method to use, what cue to look for.
For dead pixel detection, i am requesting a program that fills the entire screen with a designated color. if you know where to get one, please let me know.
inputs welcome
thank you all
