Monitor crapy image!!!

I'm having some trouble with my monitor. It's a ViewSonic G90fb 19" crt. I bought it about 3 months ago and i recently started noticing the picture quality is poor and grainy. I also noticed all the way to the left about half way up there's a 3" square that shimmers! I know it's not my video card, i have tried a few different cards with the same results. I plugged in my old compaq monitor and it's perfect! Has anyone else had trouble with this? BTW, i installed a recent driver for the monitor to no avail. :shrug:

I'm running my resolution @1280x1024 with a refresh rate of 85Hz

i wouldn't really worry about drivers, first try different (lower is usually better) refresh rates... see if that helps ...if the picture gets better with lower resolution, get ready to give an arm and leg to fedex, goin str8 to the mfg! good luck dyl..

LOL, thanks bud. I think i'll just live with the crappr image rather than send it back. I'll give it to one of my kids later on down the road and buy a new one. I was just wondering if anyone had this problem and could offer a fix.

Is there any settings on the front panel for a menu? If there is than there might be a 'degauss' option, if so try it...that doesn't really sound like the problem but it's all I can think of...pics please.

Yeah, i tried that, didn't work. I can't really post any pics because the image isn't really bad, it's not as clean and sharp as it should be, and you probably wouldn't be able to see a difference with a screenshot. I've tried all sorts of settings and adjusted contrast and color but it just looks like @#!*. I plugged my old compaq 17" monitor in and it looks awesome, this monitor looks dull and weak!!!! Maybe it's something i have to live with.....

Unfortunately, you're Viewsonic probably gave up on you. It has been my experience that Viewsonic CRT displays have a very short useful life span, in your case, it's an extremely short life span. I wouldn't bother RMAing it however, as in my experience, the RMA process is more hassle than it's worth. I'm almost one and a half months in on my Viewsonic RMA now, after they "accidentally" shipped my display back to me without fixing or replacing it :bang head
