This is a little survey for you 6-bit (TN-film) lcd owners:

1. Which monitor do you own?
2. Do you notice color dithering (that is, shimmering/sparkling) in video or pictures? If so, how bad is it?

Thanks. I'm trying to decide which type of display to get.

I bought my mom a BenQ 737 (6bit 16ms) for her birthday last year. I was so impressed with it that I picked one up for my girlfriend as well.

No ghosting, and all the colours look great.

Samsung 930B, I don't see anything, my dad says he sees it slightly on color gradients but nothing in real world application.. movies, games, etc, all look fine

I find it interesting how some people can see stuff like dithering, ghosting, and afterglow, while others swear it's not there.

If I didn't live in the middle of nowhere, I would be able to test some panels in person. *sigh*

L90D+, nothing I can notice here. I prefer the color response (for photoshop work) to the PVA Samsung 21.3" I also own.

It cool that you L90D+ owners aren't having many color issues. That is my top 6-bit choice.

No problems here from what I can tell.

Yep I can see it but it's no big deal most of the time.

Watching DVD movies on my daughter's 16ms 6bit Acer AL1912b TN panel, I can see some slight noise like dancing pixels (sparkling) on dark scenes of mostly one color or shade. It's there but once I'm into the movie, I don't really see it unless I specificly look for it.

Now on my 25ms 8bit PVA panel Samsung 920T I don't see any sparkle effect at all. Movies are better on this monitor but I'm sure fast dark games aren't its forte.

Well, after a lot of thinking...I bit the bullet and ordered an 8-bit 1905fp...$307 shipped (@ 40% off, and free shipping). With a 21 day return policy I think I am pretty good to go. If I don't like what I see I will send it back, but I think I WILL like what I see.
