I am in the process of (trying to) fix a computer involving the MSI MS-6577 Rev 2.1 mainboard which has gone very, very wrong.
Basically on startup it tells me "BIOS rom checksum error" and "Insert system disk".
All well and good except that I don't have a system disk - the machine was bought from HP so they didn't supply one. From the error it is giving me I assume it wants the BIOS on a floppy to read and re-copy to the ROM chip, which has become corrupt. Removing and replacing the CMOS battery has had no effect.
HP don't offer tech support for this model PC any more.
MSI don't list this mainboard on their site.
I am running out of ideas... anyone know where I can get the BIOS for this mainboard to make a "system disk" with?
Thanks in advance.
