I have an older Philips CRT monitor that used to be hooked up to our Windows 95 machine, that has now been officially reallocated back to my room onto my new machine. However, ever since I built the system, even when I was using a wimpy TNT PCI video card, I will get black lines and blurry spots on my screen. Neither of which are commonly reproducible but go away if I unplug the monitor cable from my computer or turn off and turn back on the monitor. Any ideas as too the cause?
PS: never did this before, the 95 box was a Compaq w/ intergraded ATI rage pro.
Artest mockups as to what the screen looks like.

With those 2 screenies being so small on my 1024 res. I can not see what you are talking about...

But the problem you are describing is 1 of 2 things...

Heat issue...
Monitor going out...

Monitor 2= look at the lighten+blur bottem right hand of the screen
monitor = black line 1/4 of the way down.

Both are hard to miss if you look for it, then again. I made the images....

Uh the damper wire could be broken. This is a wire inside of the screen that keeps the video from shaking.. You know when you degauss your screen it goes PLINK!~!~~!~! and then the screen shakes n stuff? Yea.. thats when the damper wire is discharged so get rid of static electricity so those funny colours in the corners of the screen goes away. I think this is how it works.
