its a matte, however with the backlight bleeding i am getting might as well be a shiny surface... feel like there is this glow around my monitor :(

sorry to hear undred, you must have the older revision, I just got mine yesterday and it's the new revision...no flaws anywhere.....is your 21 days from purchase up?

got mine last friday ver A01 MFG Febuardy or something may i ask what reviosion you received maybe I am being to picky,,, hmm I saw someone was able to post a picture made in the dark of how bad the bleed was perhaps I can do the same to show you how mine looks... guess your lucky you received a better one... either way my choices now return this one see if I get a better one if not return it for a full refund,,, or just refund now,,, or keep the one I have and live with it. I am going to call dell and tell my concerns and see how they want to deal with it.

Mine is a A01 made in feb as well...not sure who got the rare one you or me....
I'd send it back get a new one and if it's bad too get the refund, I think dell pays for shipping too.

Hope you guys like this story,, So I was thinking about the exchange for the new monitor. Headed over to dells website and found out that I could pay over a hundred dollars less for monitor than what I paid for it. Right now it is selling for $560 around there,,, So I called dell setup a Straight Return/REfund on my current monitor and figured Ill just going and order a new one in the mean time to get the deeper discount...

Wish me luck on Getting a Better "PANEL"


EDIT* so when I ordered the new monitor also found another $55.00 coupon to apply so I am paying about $175 less than I first did,,, I really hope the new one is better...

Mine came in yesterday from fed-ex and I checked it for dead pixels and backlight bleeding and all is good. I also have Revision A01 manufactured in Feb 2005. Hopefully this is now the trend and those with problems are few and far between. We shall see I suppose.

I hope your new one works out well for you....and yes I got in on that deal as well...paid 507 shipped for mine! Only question is should I return it and get a 2405...only thing stopping me is I use dual monitors....so i need either a 17" and 20" wide or a 20" and 24" wide so they line up correctly...the first combo costs 750, the second probably 1500
