I was playing around with my new L90D+ and turned on cleartype.

Use this link to turn it on.
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/1.htm

You can also use microsoft's cleartype tuner web-app for "fine tuning" things.

I have a link to an app that may be of interest to you.

http://www.ioisland.com/cleartweak/

It gives you a little more control over cleartype (moreso than microsoft's app). This way you can adjust things to look even better.

maybe I am the only person that doesn't like cleartype. I just can't get used to it.

I thought everyone knew about this before, frankly I never remember to install it when I do a new system install, but somehow it always seems to make its way on my computer. And the second link doesn't work

I've used ClearType for a while, but the program on the second link you gave didn't do much other than turn ClearType on and off and change the contrast of it. Am I missing something that it does?

I use MS's ClearType on my NEC MultiSync 1765 LCD. Makes a nice difference with text. But it definetly takes some getting used to. The http://www.ioisland.com ClearTweak is pretty nice, but I have no use for it, MS's does a fine job for me.

-btw, check out that PlacesTweaker!

I never got used to it either...I prefer the sharpness of regular looking text. ClearType makes it kinda blurry and more pixelated/larger.

I always use cleartype, since it always seemed sharper to me.

The second link works fine. Guess I had already enabled cleartype. Couldn't see any difference when I pushed the slider to the max .

Aye just tried it out it adds a little blur affect to it and gets rid of the true crisp feel but it might be something that CRT users can use when switching over to a LCD if it doesn't feel right to them.

Going to try this here at work for a while and compare it to when I get back home to one without it.

I use cleartype with a flat screen 17'' CRT...it makes it look good too

Bah gave up on it. Its too wierd, since it blurs the edges around the text you can see the reds blues and yellow pixels when lookin at the text. Really annoying.

cleartweak works good for me when i slide it the contrast all the way. text looks better that way to me. im not used to reading the lcd text since it's my first day on an lcd monitor. :)
