burnt line through my new 21" monitor?

it's a dell p1130, 21" flat screen monitor

i came home from work and there it was and as i'm typing this msg i suddenly see another one

what the hell is going on here?

You and me both man. I just had a burnt line develop on my Sony F520 that's just a little over 2 weeks old. A 2/5" vertical line running right down the middle of the screen... and it's an ugly brown color. GRRRRRRRR!

is there anything that can be done?

i just got this monitor used for free, it looks brand new and it functioned like brandnew except today(2nd day having it!!!)
