What you really want are the NiMH batteries for any digital camera. Alkaline will work but the camera will suck them dry in only a couple of dozen shots. The NiMH batteries will last you all day and if you get two pair along with the charger, you will never want for batteries.

Yeah that sounds about right, my friends HP camera will suck all the power out of alkaline batteries in a little over an hour..

Which do digital cameras use more often, AA batteries or built-in batteries? Which is better?

No matter the what kind of batteries you use, if you are worried about battery life the these are some of the things you can do to make them last longer

1) If possible do not turn the camera off between shots. The more you turn the camera on and off the faster the batteries will drain. My Nikon has a sleep after 30 second option and its better to leave the camera on becase every time you turn it on or off it must retract the lens, and recharge the flashs cappacitor, thus eating power

2) If you can use the view finder instead of the LCD screen. The screen is probaly eating most of your power.

3) It did not look like your camera had a optical zoom on it so this may not apply. If you are taking pics and constantly zooming in an out you will also shorten your battery life

Looking at accessories for your camera I would get a couple of the Lithium batteries like these:Lithium battery (https://emporium.olympus.com/innards/empProdDetails.asp?sku=200656-410) and a charger.

My D70 came with a battery cage for those little CR-2 batteries. But at $12/pair (I need 3 at least), I just bought en-el3 batteries. My sony vid-cam has a AA thing to use regular batteries if you need to, but I have 2 12hr Lit-ions for that.
