View Full Version : which lcd would give less strain on the eyes
I currently have a ctx s762g 17" lcd monitor and ever since I got it, it's been giving me headaches on and off. I wasn't having these problems with my 21" flat crt dell p1130. The reason why I got the lcd in the first place was to have more desk space and less eye strain. I mostly just use the monitor for surfing the web and reading. Every once in a while I may play a game or 2. I'm thinking of getting a new lcd monitor and I don't really want to spend more than $350. For my needs what do you think I would have to look for in a monitor(contrast ratio, response time, view angle, dp, dvi or not)? Any monitor suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

You might try turning the brightness down a little.. sometimes lcd's are way too bright on default settings..
I already tried bringing the brightness down to 50% but it still didn't help much. I don't know if I was just unlucky with the monitor I chose. It seemed to have only good reviews on newegg. The only other review I found was by pc magazine here: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1631315,00.asp
They mentioned there was a lot of flaws in the performance and limited viewing angle(I thought 160° / 160° is pretty decent compared to most unless they are overrating the specs) but didn't really elaborate. I'm really most concerned with eye strain right now and stairing at the screen for long periods of time. I don't think response time will help much in this. Correct me if i'm wrong.
