I know, the word "LCD" and phrase "low price" don't go together unless followed by "crap". But I am on a $300 budget and I need to get an LCD moniter (CRT won't do), and one that can handle games and doesn't ghost (or does so ever so slightly). I was looking at a Neso A700, for $230 at www.newegg.com, but I have never heard of "Neso". Also I saw a Rosewell for a simlilar price and about the same specs. Does anyone have some suggestions on a good LCD at sub-$300 prices?

that lg is 16ms, i have the upgraded one with DVI, the L1710B and i LOVE it. egg doesn't mention that it has dvi, but it really does. i have never seen ghosting yet, and its extremly bright!

Well I am thinking about the SAMSUNG 710N-2-Black now, it is a name I know and has 12ms response (though whether that is accurate...). Has anyone had any experance with this monitor?

just because it nsays 12ms does not mean it is :D be sure to reearch the LCD's - there is more to it such as grey to grey response time, full on to off positions which are often more then the suggested "12ms".

And how can I find that out?

will try to lcoate the thread i was reading the past day - it was connect to the dell 2005FP LCD"s and i branched off from there - was some great reading on LCD's and the marketing tricks they use such as "claiming" a monitor to be 12ms when it can be as high as 20ms pending on the "state" the pixel is changing.

Thanks for your input, everyone. After doing some additional research and reading those reviews (thanks goob), I think I will get either Samsung 710 or the Benq FP767... great now which one of those do I get?

no problem.

Anyway i dont really know what to tell you about picking between those two, i dont know much about lcd's anyway, maybe see which one has a better contrast ratio, the higher that is the better. I was thinking about getting the samsung 710 myself, but i dont know i've used crt's my whole life. Only lcd's i have used are on laptops.

I tired to play q3 on my laptop i think the response time on there is 25ms. I could not play it very long, i dont think it was really from ghosting, just the fact that i've never used lcds to play fast paced games, and it just was wierd, depth perception i guess. I suppose you have to get used to it, so i haven't got a lcd yet. Really nothing wrong with my crt i'm just tired of 50lb bulk of **** taking up my whole desk lol.

Was thinking about going to a store and looking, but i dont think you can load games on them and test the lcd's out, and beside i think most stores don't have a large selection to choose from.
