LCD Contrast in Games Question (Problem)

Ok, I just picked up a 2005fpw the other day. Everything has been running beautifully except for Day of Defeat and Unreal 2. In both these games the normally lighted areas are fine....however the dark/shadowed areas are totally black. No amount of adjusting the contrast, gamma, or brightness both in game and on card will fix it.

It isnt present in either HL2 or Far Cry from what I can tell so far.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

My videocard is a GeForce 6800GT running on a Athlon64 3200.

I have the same problem with an Nec Multisync 1760nx, with mostly Doom3 and the dark parts of Everquest 2. Dont know if its the monitor or the settings I have. Although Im inclined to believe its the monitor.
