I bought a BENQ FP557S off NCIX.com and since its going in my car, the 6foot cable is not enough. I need >10ft cable. Now I know I may lose some signal strength in doing so, but that isnt a concern right now.

I am looking for a vga cable thats atleast 10feet, so naturally I'm looking on ebay. So since I dont have my monitor here, I donno if I should be getting a male male or male female connection.

Are all lcd monitors typically the same? Like do they all use MF or MM? Either way I need to know what type of cable to get for my BENQ FP557S.

EDIT: THIS (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41999&item=6728566856&rd=1) is what I'm looking at. Which seems good quality. But its M/M is that right?

If the monitor comes with a cable of it's own then you can just get a Male-Female cable to extend the one it comes with. Otherwise yes. EVERY LCD I've ever come across (or any CRT with a detachable cable for that matter) uses a Male-Male cable

Perfect, all I needed to hear. I dont want to use the factory cable because many places have told me that the adapter connection causes more resistance and you can lose up to 10% of your video strength by JUST using an extention cable. So I figure if I get a high quality cable that is 1 length I dont need an adapter and I can deal with the amount of signal loss then.

EDIT: And also I dont want to use the factory cable because if its a different grade (probably less than what I want to buy) everything will be reduced to its efficiency. "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link"

With an 17" CRT monitor, a 6' extention cable produced a horrible picture @ 1024x768. Too much interference and signal loss. So make sure you get a good quality cable, not extention, for anything over 6'.

I've used a 15' Belkin VGA cable on a 17" Samsung LCD and havn't noticed any loss in quality.

I posted a link to the one I bought on my first post in my edit. Its much thicker than the one on the LCD and even if there is a little bit of a loss its not for hardcore gaming or anything. Like this LCD IS in my car... soo...
