To answer the question neither one is better. It all comes down to what you need and what you plan to use it for. Each one has advatages

Im not sure on which would last longer. Ive had some CRT's last a very long time. my current one is old as dirt.

One thing is how long you leave it on , does it have air flow by it , they can heat up pertty hot. does the screen stay still for long time. screen saver turned on

I know that lcd monitors start to loose pixels after 5 years, so probably the crt monitor will be a better bet (if you want it to last more then 5 years)

No CRT and LCD have about the same lifespan in hours of use LCD I believe have a longer lifespan in hours of use. LCD lifespan of 5 years is when you run it for 24/7 for 5 years straight.

Which on is better depends on what you needs are at the time. LCD are better for a majority of computer task. Worth there cost depends on needs and wants. CRT are better for some things.
