Did you guys just plug and play and leave it alone or did you toggle/change any of the settings, like resolutions, refresh rates, etc. I just want the optimal settings for my monitor. I am experiencing ghosting in my Doom3 play and it really upsets me, so I am trying to get to the botom of it.

What resolution are you at? you shouldnt be on anyhing less than 1280x1024! do you have your 2001fp on dsub or dvi? I found wih my x800pro (iv got a 6800gt on the way) that i got ghosting when using a dsub cable...i dont think it could keep up - i swaped to dvi (which is what i always use anyway) and the problem went away! Also, do you have vsync set in your graphics control panel? that can also help tearing etc. Trust me, your 2001fp should NEVER ghost - these monitors are awesome.

Yes, I'm using DVI. Vsync was off, so I turned that on, I will try again later tonight.

No, that didn't fix it :(

did you switch to nvidia from an ati card? you may have some residual cr*p left over from the drivers...
Can anyone else shed some light on this? A dell 2001fp should NOT be ghosting!! I let you know Jbroad572 if i have any issues with my 6800gt and 2001fp when my card arrives sometime this week.

Nope, this is a brand new computer and install. I have pretty much all the settings and extras set to "application controlled" is that a problem? I think whatI see is ghosting. I will walk and move and I will see frames from a milisecond or 2 ago. It looks choppy and it will be choppy sometimes when going through the game. For instance, going through the door, it will pause for less than a second sometimes. I have the Doom3 settings at 1600x1200 AA off and I have it at "high video settings" Could it be the game settings, card itself, or is that ghosting?
Sorry for the blurry description I am providing, but trying best I can.

no, i know what you mean, i see it on my girlfriends shockingly bad 14" tft all the time - you can tell where youve been by looking at the ghostly trail of frames that are still all on screen...
Seriously, im not sure now what exactlys wrong, with a 6800gt and your monitor you should be able to quite happily and easily play doom3 at 1600x1200 on high quality, even with low AA and AF enabled with no ghosting..
All i can suggest for the mo until my card arrives or someone else steps in, is try swapping your monitor cable types over - try dsub instead of dvi. also try a different monitor on your graphics card - does it ghost on a different monitor?

Ok, I've tried the regular d-sub cable and dvi, I have put the settings on the lowest they will go with everything turned off and it's still the same. Surely 512mb would cause this?? I have no idea what to try or even think next.

The 2001fp is bound to blur more than a 16ms tn-film panel. The s-ips panel it uses is more suceptible to blurring even at the same rated response time (same thing happens with pva panels). You can't compare response times across different types of panels. Even though some people don't see the blurring that doesn't mean its not there; You have to trust you own eyes. If you are running at 1600x1200 and on dvi at 60hz(the optimal refresh rate setting for lcds) then you are seeing the best your lcd can do.

Check out that link for a review of your panel. Its much much better for gaming than a 25ms panel, but not quite up to par with the 16/12ms tn-film panels. So basically I am just trying to say that you have a good monitor and once you get used to it you won't see it anymore at all.

I have a 6800gt and the dell 2001fp and I dont notice any ghosting at all. I will look harder tonight but I play all kinds of games and have never noticed anything, although that doesn't mean it isn't there.

Problem resolved. It was the vsync in the game. I have it turned off in the Nvidia display manager, but not the game. Well all is well. Woohoo!!!!
