1024x768 for everything. I would use higher but im using a crappy HP mx90 monitor and it doesn't look right with anything higher so i stick with what works.
1. 1280x1024
2. 1600x1200 (except Far Cry)
3. 1600x1200 (usually)
With my new board/cpu, every game ill be running at 1600x1200, monitor is gorgeous, 85hz at 1600, 100hz at 1280.

1) for desktop -- 1792 x 1344
2 & 3) for gaming -- generally 1600 x 1200 except for a few games like Far Cry which I play at 1280 x 1024, and very, very few at 1792 x 1344 (Morrwind is the only one that comes to mind that will let me use that resolution).
My monitor is a Samsung 19" 950b or 955b (not quite sure which - I'm at work right now). I only get a refresh of 60 at those resolutions, however it has never bothered me.

1) 1600x1200 @ 85 Hz, occasionally 1920x1440 @ 75 Hz
2) 1280x960 @ 85 Hz (ratio is correct)
3) 1600x1200 @ 85 Hz

1, 1280x1024 @ 75hz (can't really go higher :()
2, 1024x768 if I must, 1152x864 otherwise
3, 1280x1024
1280x1024 @ 75 for all(although the crt is at home while I'm at college)

1. 1600x1200
2. 1024x768 (TI4200)
3. 1280x1024
1) 1280x960 (While my Diamondtron tube can handle 1600x1200 @ 85hz, it's just too blurry for everyday use) Because of the graphic work I do, I own a 2nd monitor for added screen real-estate.
2) 1024x768 (usually with some degree of AA on, except in the case of D3)
3) 1280x960 w/ 4x4 AA/AF

Well acording to CPU (computer power user) 54% of the population uses 1024x768. However we are just talking about 19" in this thread.

On my FD Trinitron I spend most of my time at 1280x1024 for all three. At times I'll run 1600x1200 if the mood strikes me, but the Dell has some minor convergence issues that bug me after a while at that res.
must be nice. mine will only do 85hz max. 75 at 1600. i usually keep at 1024 x 768 for everything. just looks best that way.
Yeah it is nice, well chuffed with it.
Wierd how people can buy a top of the line kick ass PC, yet save money and buy a cheaper monitor, lol, i never understand it. I mean you look at the monitor, not at the case. :attn:

On my 21 inch compaq monitor, I generally have it at 1024x768 for 1 and 3, that's because where I have it, I'm sitting a good 4ft away and can't read it at higher res. For higher demand games, I'm often slouched back with my feet up, adding another foot, so then I uses 800x600 on it, just because from that distance the resolution means nothing, and having a GF3, it's just that bit smoother, quite often have AA on though. Some stuff looks better with AA @ 800x600 than @ 1024x768 or even 1280x1024 without.
Not sure if I'd run it at 1600x1200 even if I was sitting closer since although it's nice and crisp, it's at 60hz, so I most probably would drop to 1280x1024 for lower eyestrain on desktop, though I might game at 1600x1200 on the low demand games.
However, I am considering losing the 21 inch from that rig and running dual 17 inch trinitrons instead.
For me though, often the sheer size of the screen makes for more enjoyable gaming rather than the res. I did have that rig with a 25inch TV and a 15inch monitor, and gaming on the TV even at only 800x600 was more fun than on the monitor at 1024x768.

Hey Voodoo, how did you chose 1600x1200 res in Black Hawk down? I have the same Gfx Card, but i have only two options in the game: 1024x768 and 1280x1024. So how can i set this game to a different resolution?
Another thing: As far as CRT monitors go, 1280x1024 is a 5:4 res. How does that look okay? I have to use 4:3 resolutions in order to have everything displayed properly. Such as 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960 and 1600x1200...

why do so much of you use 1280*1024? to me it looks "deformed", cause its not a 4:3 resolution!?

1600 x 1200 - 19' trinitron
i will run 1600 x 1200 if the games can handle it - monitor only does 1600 x 1200 @ 85 - anything higher and only 60mhz which i wont do!
so 1600 x 1200 when ever i can with games.
