hey guys..ive been lookin on ebay and researching the DIY projector project...i currently see 2, the expensive one where u pass light thru an LCD (the one that makes sense) and another where u buy some Fresnel lens that SOMEHOW takes a CRT image and projects it.....

so simply, has anyone done it? howd it turn outnamely the CRT one since its cheaper ..but anything helps....thanks in advance guys.

I've seen those that you lay down onto an OHP and it projects onto the wall as the light passes through it. I've seen those floating around for years, and you can pick them up these days anywhere from about $50-200 (for one that'll do 800x600, maybe 1024x768). Of course, you need an OHP which get pretty damn loud, and they're not that cheap either.

although this is a little off topic, those fresnel lenses act like a magnifying glass on steroids. The light is very intense though, and safety protection for your eyes is highly advised (I learned that the hard way). Anyways, this is a cool link for ya:

Note: Never pay money for "Links", "Plans" or "Information" on ebay! Message the poor sapps who left feedback for the same item and ask them to tell/give you it for free. About 3/5 people will.

I wouldn't say "Never". Links don't pay, general infomation don't pay, but plans, sometimes. Depends on the subject matter. As far as these projectors go, I wouldn't buy them, but there are some good plans & resources for various things on eBay that are worth the money.

Sometimes, the authors work hard to produce them, they spend a lot of time creating them, and they're worth paying for. In those instances, asking a previous bidder for a copy is no different to downloading illegal software.
