hey, i need to buy a new lcd for my upcoming computer, and the crt i was going to get isn't gonna be even close to fitting (:bang head )... so i need to find a cheap 17" lcd...no more than $300. the higher the resolution the better. a digital output/input would be nice but not necessary. i have no use for built-in speakers.
thanks for any help!!

Oh, they make a lot of great 17" LCD's right now. Get one that has a DVI port and shoot for 16ms response time and about a 500:1 contrast ratio. Samsung, Dell (sometimes rebadged Samsung), Planar, the list goes on and on..
Your best bet is to watch fatwallet for a 'hot deal', and jump on it. I got my 1900FP almost two years ago for $600 from Dell. Actually, Dell monitors are great and I recommend them.

The best I have been eyeing for a while is a Samsung 710T found here (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-001-164&depa=1)
12ms responce time. Best Buy has a $50 rebate on it, you might save, if you dont live in California and New jersey....

My 42" Plasma TV is Samsung - freaking beautiful. Samsung makes some stunning screens, although some of their other stuff isn't so good.. lol..

i'd love to get a samsung... but unfortunatly i don't have $500+ to blow on a monitor. i was hoping to get one for under $300 or around there.
i was looking at this one... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=626902&Sku=B145-1702
it's probably the most i can spend on a monitor at this time since i'm about to build a new comp.

Another site you should consider is monitorsdirect - heard some very good things about them. Sometimes they have coupon codes for various LCDs. If you search a hot deal forum you might be able to find a deal.
It's going to be tough to find a good 17" for $300, but this one is close. link (http://shop.monitorsdirect.com/product.asp?sku=2549447&producttype=11)

Amazing 25ms Response Time That link fron Tiger is a "good" monitor, but consider this, that you will not be able to play any games on it...ghosting..problems. With that price range have you considered high end CRT monitors...They are not sexy but they do a good job...
Also consider that tiger direct isnt the most reliable company. Order from the egg!
