View Full Version : setting up raid
can someone point me in the right direction in setting up raid 0 on the new abit AS8..i am totally new to the intel scene...on my NF7-s, setting up raid 0 was sooo simple, even a monkey can do it..the bios for this thing is so confusing...i can usually figure these things out, but this has me stumped...if you need more info, let me know
865 chipset
lga775 cpu 2.8
ich5 chipset
i'm taking suggestions anyone
Not many people here have that mobo. I've seen quite of few posts about the AS8 on the Abit forum. Might check there. A little off-topic... how do you like that TT Jungle heatsink? I'm starting to gather up parts for a LGA775 rig and thought about trying that cooler.
i like this HSF, it has kept this cpu below 40 at idle, 52 running prime95 and it's quiet..easy install
did some light overclocking, ran a whole variety of benchies and ran prime 95 for 4 hours at each of these fsb settings with no errors/no warnings:
200,205,210 ....all on stock voltages with memory timings of 6-3-3-2
got nearly a 1000 point increase right off the bat at stock settings in 3dmark01...from 16,198 to 17,125
my problem occurs after i install windows ME and after the final restart..i get this error
"cannot find or load required file KRNL386.EXE. access to the file was denied. system halted"
reason why i need to install ME is because i only have the XP Pro upgrade disc...i'm going to try to install W2k tomorrow..i have a hunch that will fix my problem
Yeah, you need to upgrade to XP or 2kPro in order to have hyperthreading (among other things).
just an update...i finally got raid set up...i had to start out with windows 2000, then do my xp upgrade....
