View Full Version : P4 overclocking
I have a question regarding overclocking of the Intel P4 CPU.
I have a P4 1,7 GHz CPU. It is accelerated to 17x133 = 2261 MHz with the help of thermal cooling, the memory runs at 3x133 = 400 MHz and the system is stable.
The question is, what does besides the CPU run outside specifications? Or is it only the communication between the CPU and the chipset, which is boosted. I have been using both the ASUS P4T and ABIT TH7-Raid motherboard

the multiplier is 17 (17*100)
mine is set at 17*110=1870 mhz stock heatsink and fan.
I can't wait to get my DangerDen waterblock to get as high as you. Hopefully!

So far it looks like your in pci specs, I'm taking of granted of course that you are useing a 1/4pci devider at 133fsb.. I'm wondering however exactly what you mean about the memory running at 3x133?
Last I knew the p4 used a 100fsb quad pumped syste, and if you had your fsb at 133mhz, you would be 4x133mhz no?

ASUS P4T has a multiplier setting in bios for either 3X or 4X ram speeds. I've heard the ram doesn't function well at stock setting of 4X when the FSB gets to high.
