View Full Version : What is replacing MAX3?
I assume that since they are phasing out the MAX 3 something better will be replacing it. I just got a 3.2E and looking for a mobo to go with it! Should I wait for abit, or look into another mobo. Any suggestions? Thanks.
IC7 or P4C800-E DX ........If you're goin to be overclocking your prescott.

I don't think Abit will release new stuff for socket 478....future is LGA775...

I think they are done with socket 478, doubt they'll release new mobo at this late. maybe reversion of previous board or something
AI7 is still alive, i hear it's better presscott mobo than max3 too
Socket 478 is going to replace by t socket, abit change their direction and now their primary production will concentrate on t socket, that applies to other mobo makers as well
Boo hear such great things about the MAX3. I do plan on OCING a little, part of me really wants to get LGA, mostly because I want the guru clock =P. But I figure I'll upgrade in two years anyways and by then LGA will be more mature and affordable. Anyone want to enlighten me? I'll probably have to go with either an IC7-G, AI7, or the Asus. Decisions, decisions...
Wow I'm suprised I never considered the AI7 before, after looking at its specs and price I've already decided! It has UGURU to, which I think is kinda neat. Too bad no clock =/. Guess I had my heart set on 875 and didn't even bother looking at the other ones. AI7 has all the features I need and 80 buxs cheaper then the MAX3. Thanks for the advice guys, really appreciate it.
I really wouldn't buy AI7 for Prescott :( You might end up with dead board
^^ What Zebbo said. The 865 mobos' pwm circuitry is less beefy than most 875 boards.' Pressies really pwn pwms (sorry, couldn't help myself ;) ), and even the 875 circuitry really was never designed with Pressies in mind. If you do end up going with the AI7, make sure you sink the bejesus out of the mosfets and keep the airflow up--your mobo and stability will thank you :)

The MAX3 is the best ocing board and the latest 478 canterwood or get a DFI Lanparty there great ocers too
Oy thanks for letting me know, almost bought the AI7 to! Guess I'll have to do a little more searchin.
I can't seem to find the DFI lanparty or MAX3 anywhere, any ideas where I can get my hands on one?
As it stand now with abit the Springdale (865) chipset (AI7) will out live Canterwood (875) max 3, Abit released a mobo that supporst T socket LGA 775 with Springdale chipset same that is on AI7
I only plan on going from 3.2 to 3.6 or 3.8, if even. Will this matter too much if I decide to go with the AI7, I think its nice to be able to change my overclock settings within windows. Because most of the time I will probably leave it on stock, unless I do something that needs some more power.
