View Full Version : Did intel fix that problem with the ich6 on the 915 and 925 chipset?

the reason why i ask is because i see that newegg is carrying a variety of 915 and 925 based motherboards... i was wondering if the problem was fixed... as it does look tempting to make the entire switch to the new (stupid stocket 77a) but mainly to get pci xpress... along with an ati x600.....

Yes, the boards were recalled and are now starting to appear again.

Yes look for the boards that have the ICH6R, the important part is the R which indicates it is a revision.

Actually the R stands for RAID. There is no designation for the southbridge indicating if it is the revised version or not. All boards manufactured before a certain date were pulled off shelves and sent back to Intel. Any mobo you buy now is almost guaranteed to have the fixed southbridge.
