thanx
take it back and get one that doesn't have this problem if you still have warrenty.

this is the second monitor i have gotten from DELL..i had an old one..it had a different problem..i called them up..they gave me a new one cuz it was under warranty...so i have done that..and other suggestions?
Unfortunately there really isn't anything else you can do but give them a call and see what they have to say. You don't have unshielded speakers near by right? It has to be a problem with the tube producing the colors.

the blue electron gun is probably dying.
(flatscreen = flatscreen CRT?)
if it's an LCD, check your cables.
CRT? Give it a good whack, if that does the trick, the Gun is dying, if it doesnt do it, hit it a few more times, if it still doesnt work, check your cables.
If it's still under warranty, exchange it :D

yes you need to hit it, but eventually that will stop working too, i had an lg studio works monitor that died a similar death

looks like your blue channel is goin out try cleaning the pins on the connector, it might help, but im not sure.

I was thinking it may be a bent pin or an unclean contact... check the pins on the cable and reseat it a couple of times...
you could always check if its your graphics card... same thing happened to my gf4mx, it turned yellow (blue channel went out). I tried mine on different monitors and went into the graphics settings and tried changing the channels and unfortunately the blue channel had no changes which meant it was dead

I know what your problem is. It's a Dell.

He's got a point, almost ALL of the 17" flat panels we ordered at the school died in one way or another.
