That's great, relieve some stress ;) I see you got the pick-axe out there too, very nice!
It reminds me of the part in Office Space where they smash the photo copier

i have dreamed of doing such things to so many pieces of obnoxious hardware
Thats very dangerous, there is a lot of power stored in there. You could very easily get electrocuted very severly from doing that. Glad you made it out alive... :) . Thanks for the pics.
Matt
nice i tossed an old p1 that i had to put up with for many many years out of my third story apartment window..and i hadn't planned on it either it just kinda made me mad one day...
anyway good work  glad to see some good use come out of an HP product.

That came to mind, so I let it sit in unplugged for about 2 weeks, just to be safe. Sure was fun smashing that thing, my friends and I were going to set it on fire but with all the capacitors, plastic and smoke it didn't really make for a good plan. O well.

That's why they have gas-stations... 93octane fuel... no more issue. :D   :attn:

Maybe the smoke would have gone back inside, and it would start to workey again. :eh?:
i got the same monitor...17" tho...with the little yellow mic cable....damn thing.

Well the capcitors can't be as explosive as a car battery. *thinks back 10 years ago when I was a young lad* Throw car battery into fire, run like a mofo, BOOOOM hehe. Nice blast from that sucker.

I took a hockey stick to a monitor before. It went straight through. What else is nice are giant iron bars. I don't know what they're for but I took one and impaled any old hardware I could with it. It was about seven feet long and weighed a good 40 pounds.

don't forget throwing it in your lake afterwards pat :D
*gestures to lake with a mirror surface on it thanks to several gallons of lubricants/paint balls/dead hardware/trash*
Heh, that's awesome, I'm sure somewhere inside of all of us there was some piece of hardware that we wanted to throw out a window or in your case....................savagly beat a helpless monitor to chards.

Um...dont throw it in the lake! There are only 5~9lbs of lead in a monitor like that and would be very bad. Not mentioning if you ever got caught there would be some type of federal violation or something like that. Lead is a pain to clean up and they would charge you $$$$$$. Cool pics though, just try and clean up afterwards and not break federal laws. Maybe bring it to a recycling center :)

I like it... A LOT! Reminds of what I did to an ancient terminal monitor... One of my friends an I were playing "catch" with it and he dropped it. The case cracked open... so I got mad and kicked in the glass from the front... and my friend kicked the glass in from behind. There was a loud cracking/shattering noise... and we had a terminal that was in a million little pieces... lol

I do this all the time with old broken hardware components, 'tis very fun... In fact, My CD drive just crapped out on me today...be back later. :D
Hehe poor monitor.
Wouldn't it be a huge risk though? I always though that crt mons had huge vacuum tubes, that when exploded, would send shards everywhere?
