Do KVM switches degrade vga quality? I have a Belkin KVM switch, but I don't know if it degrades the quality of the signal, or perhaps screws up the refresh rate? This is for my gaming pc with a 17" Sony Trinitron CRt monitor .24mm dot pitch.

I didn't notice any loss of quality with the last Belkin KVM I set up.

But you're the one with the KVM - you should be telling us. :)

Jaraxle, I strongly doubt that anything is at all changed in terms of qulaity, etc. as you are still using only one monitor and computer and are only splitting it but blocking off one path while keeping the other and so on.

Thanks for the info.

I disagree.

KVM switches can cause a degraded video signal. Unshielded video cables will cause distortion on screen if they run next to other cables. And I have seen one KVM that caused screen distortion even when the cables were all isolated.

yes they can cause GREATLY degraded quality. but belkin ones shouldn't. just get a name brand and your fine.

If you're really worried about video signal degradation, get the Belkin KVM that supports DVI (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=201729&pcount=&Product_Id=160592#) and then use a DVI>VGA adapter for your CRT.
