It seems as if, either after my TFT montior has been on for an extended period of time, wavey lines appear about 0.3mm between them, all across the screen, visible on black/dark blue/blue backgrounds. If I reset the monitor to its factory defaults, its ok. But if I fiddle with the colour contrast they can appear again. This didn't happen at first with the monitor, and has only showed up after about a months use.
My gcard is a 9800PRO and im using omega cat 3.7s.
I've tried both the vga and dvi output with the monitor.
Any ideas people?

well it happens on mostly all contrasts now depending on the background colour.
I've got a sneaky suspicion it could be my graphics card, as in different res's I get different effects on the screen, example on 1152x852 I get like line effects vertically on the screen and my gcard seems to be very hot.

I have a 9800 pro and a samsung 172t. I have never had any screen abnormalities at all. I use whatever the latest catalyst driver is. Maybe try a different driver? If that doesn't work rma or try to find out if its a common problem with the monitor you bought.

RMA it
as he said, I would RMA it. LCD's are a lot more difficult in troubleshooting and operation. Every single one of the those pixles has 3 transistors that tell it what to do. (red, green, blue) So when freaky stuff like this happens, I would suggest an RMA.
