Hi

I want to buy a new graphic card and I'm not sure if the new Nvidia 6800 is a worth buy or if it's better to get a FX5900 Ultra (I don't like ATI, I had some compatibility problems with ATI Cards and I don't like)
If 6800 is a great option, Which One? Aopen Aeolus 6800DV, Leadtek A400 TDH...?.

Main use is for games and real time rendering in 3D Studio Max 5, not for video capture or TV (I had a Miro Video DC30+ for video capture)

I want to use it in this System:
PIV Northwood 3.6
1 Gb Kingston PC3300
Asus P4P800SE

Thanks in advance.

I would just go with the Aopen Aeolus 6800DV. I read a few updates and they claim to have the best performance of the 6800. I am a fan of ATI indeed and I think ATI is gonna take back their place at the top of the pack. The X800 pro beat the 6800 Ultra almost in every benchmark! Imagine the X880XT! Dont get me wrong, I like both of the card manufacturers. But, benchmarks dont lie. If you do fall into ATI again, I doubt you will have any compatability issues with the new system you are putting together! But, I would go with the Aopen Aeolus 6800DV! Hope my reply helps. You can look at the benchmarks on Tomshardware.com!

I don't think anyone would be dissapointed with either a 6800 or X800 class card.

Instead of a plain 6800 you might want to consider a 6800GT, as it has 16 rendering pipelines as opposed to the 12 that the regular 6800 has.

Um, the x800 pro didnt beat the ULTRA in any of the benches? The 6800GT beat the x800 most of the time..

But, benchmarks dont lie.

They do if you're using Nvidia cards with certain drivers...

I do not believe in benchmarks, I'm not certain they are not manipulated.

Thanks for your answer.

i thought the x800pro beat the 6800 ultra pretty often in benchies.
