I have a pentium 4 at 1500mhz. Now, I can overclock it at 1680mhz without any problem. I am using windows Me, MoBo ASUS P4T, and watercooling with peltier.
Now when i try to overclock it at 1725mhz I get some windows protection errors and I have to restart the computer. When I overclock it at 1800mhz or more, I get a long beep and then it take me back to the bios so I have to put
back the old frequency. My temperature without using any peltier is 36C for the CPU and 32C for the mobo

What are your temperature readings? And please give detailed system info, like video card, PCI devices etc.

Seems like the average oc speed of a cpu like yours is 1800 MHz, so there should be a good shot at getting there. No promises though.

Have you tried removing your PCI devices, and see if that helps? WinME isn't the best OS for overclocking, but I guess it shouldn't be a problem at 1725.

What about thermal paste? AS2?

Is the peltier properly seated?

I M USING ARTIC SILVER 2 EVERYTHING IS SET CORRECTLY BUT I JUST NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CONFIGURE THE BIOS

Relax man, shouting won't get you anywhere in here, so cut it out. :(

I don't think the problem is strictly BIOS related, you see. Try changing the RAM settings, set CAS to 3 etc. What about the divisors, have you checked them?

You should try to increase core voltage somewhat (just a few notches at first), that normally helps a lot.

My CPU is now running at 1725Mhz with a temperature of 40C. The VCORE is now at 1.75V. But I still can't go further, because, higher than this and my comp. won't even boot up.

CPU FSBF 115
VCORE 1.75

By the way, what are divisors?

How about increasing the voltage some more to get it stable at 1800 MHz?

Try 1.85v or something.

As for the divisors, they are used to determine the PCI and AGP speed. AGP speed should be about 66Mhz, and PCI@33MHz.
If you have a 100MHz FSB computer, the PCI divisor should be 1/3.

There are not any PCI divisors in my bios set up.......
I tried overclocking at 1770Mhz, it was successfull at first, but then I shut it down, when I tried turning it on, it locked up again.

With what voltage?

Try changing your IO voltage from the BIOS as well. Some people have luck increasing it, others need to decrease it to gain anything. See what works best for you.

The P4T has an interesting feature. At this point, your Rambus is running Waaaaay out of spec....it's wound pretty tight, and Asus knows this. Somwhere hidden in your BIOS is a multiplier for the Memory settings (!), which I've never seen on any other mobos before. By default, it's set at "4", making for 800MHz RDRAM. Your 112MHz FSB setting is running your RDRAM at nearly 900 MHz, which is probably getting toward the 'too high' end for this. If you reduce your memory multiplier setting to "3", you'll only be running at 672. This may inhibit performance a bit, but you then should be able to clock the CPU higher, and perhaps make some of it up.

To me, P4 tuning seems like it's a little more complex and a little more challenging than OCing many other chips - tempting to pick one up when they get cheap just for the heck of it, and see what she'll do!

Good luck with the 'clock!

There is a Guide (http://www.sharkyextreme.com/hardware/articles/p4_oc_special/) at Sharky Extreme. It might help you.

Thanks yall for your concern, but after trying everything, my computer still won't boot up when I overclock @ more than 1725. Now i saw something else in my bios setting. It was in the PCI configuration, it s like my PCI [...] was @32. Now I don't know what this means but I'mma try to get more information.

My PCY Latency Timer is at 32, now should I change it so I can OC more my CPU?
