This month's MaxPC has a review on 8 LCD's and their gaming performance. I believe the BenQ did the worst.

Bad news for BenQ. The FP767-12 didn't get a thumbs up from any of our editors. Blurriness was pronounced, making Need For Speed look like a film someone was trying unsuccessfully to pull into focus. Image quality took yet another big hit with interpolation. Even worse, most editors felt that the brightness, contrast, and color quality were inferior to even midrange CRTs. Oh well - thanks for playing!

The 3 LCD's that passed the test (out of 8): Samsung 172x ($650), Planar PL1700 ($460), and the Dell 2001FP ($900).

Maybe the Planar wouldve been a better deal for all who bought the BenQ (including me).

heh .. my room-mate has the exact benQ and there is NO ghosting whatsoever when he plays NFS .. in fact it looks much clearer and sharper than my cornea MP704B (also 17' LCD with 25ms refresh rate).

could it be that the editors at max PC got their hands on bad unit?

Max PC sucks anyhow. I love my benq fp 767. I bought it a year ago for 350 bucks, cheaper than any of the decent 16 ms panels availible today. I get no ghosting and very little blurriness, I agree that it isn't the best panel out there but for the price it certainly provides the most bang for the buck.

Bah! I also owned the fp767 and I agree with snvpa, while it may not be the best out there, for the price it's a great lcd. I also doubt it was THAT bad in their tests. I reviewed this monitor and found it did well in all tests and gamed well.

Completely satisfied with my LCD though its their top model.
Not a top of the line brand, but good bang for the buck.
