View Full Version : Bios Display Problem
Now i had this problem with my old monitor too, but to a lesser extent. When i turn my PC on and in the BIOS the display is displayed too big so it cuts off a lot of the text, even thou my display is fine while using my OS. Anyone know how i can fix this? Altering my monitors settings doesnt seem to affect it at all.

Go into a BIOS setup screen so the screen stays goofed up. Then, using the monitors on-screen adjusments, adjust the screen attribs (width, height, posn, etc). You should be all set.
The refresh rate/Resolution combo used by the bios at startup must not be one of the non-custom res's supported by the monitor. You will simply be created a custom config for that combo.
Thanks. Just tried that. Now the Bios display is fine, its the actual initial boot up screen thats oversized but i cant get it to stay long enough to try altering it. With my old monitor it was text on the left side that was cut off, on my new one its all around and the fonts are huge  Guess i'll just have to put up with it unless i can figure out a way to sort it.
I remember when i first got my computer at the new year it was perfect, then all of a sudden one day it went like this and i havent a clue what caused it to change. I've just updating my Bios to the latest one which was released last week and thats had no affect at all.

Funny, mine did that exact same thing too; the bios screen was fine for a while then went nuts eventually.
Regarding the boot screen, most newer monitors have a menu option that displays which preset mode its running and the vert/horiz refresh rates. If you can get it into that screen while/before it gets there you may be able to figure out what res/refresh it is and duplicate and adjust it on your desktop.
However, I'd go to an OS forum and simply ask what the default res/refresh rate is for the loading screen and if there is a registry option to change it; someone will know.

To freeze the bootup process at the screen you want to adjust, press the "Pause/Break" key on your keyboard.
It will hold the screen for you until you have made your monitor adjustment, then hit the "Enter" key to resume the bootup.

Thankyou:)
Now my display is perfect. I never realised altering the display for the boot up screen wouldnt alter the size i have it set for with XP either. Now i've finally got this new monitor set up perfectly. Thanks again.
