hi all, im building a comp for my bro and i was wondering if the kds xtreme flat 17" monitor is any good link (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-155-031&depa=0)
but first of all, i want the best budget 17" monitor (preferably lcd if cost is kept at a minimum
so i need recommendations for a good 17" monitor, i want to spend as little as possible and if it is crt, it has to be a flat screen, and must be at newegg or directron

I would go to a 19 inch, for with this monitor you can reach resolutions of up to 2048x 1536 for 200 dollars.
True gaming CRT. Not even NEC can beat this one. I will buy this when I get the money 4 new rig this summer.
If newegg's price on this doesn't suite you, you can get this for 200 dollars if you froogle it.

ummm will the 17" version of this monitor be a good deal? is this (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-116-231&depa=0) it? and are these true flat screens? not just a flat piece of glass over a curved screen, right?
o and btw, i seriously doubt the comp im building for my bro needs a 19 in. its just not needed, all he does is use AIM, browse the internet, and use microsoft office, he doesnt play games

Oh, I see. In that case, the 17 inch viewsonic would be a better option, for you STILL get gaming quality, yet a smaller, more practical size.
Maybe you should consider an cheaper 15inch LCD in that case, like you asked for earlier.

no, think a 15 inch is too small, and cheap lcd's have a real bad viewing angle and are more expensive than the viewsonic i linked to, thx for the advice
yeah, i think ill go with the p-series viewsonic 17", thx for the advice!

ebay is an excellent source for monitors just off corporate lease with years of life left in them. I've found 21" Trinitrons on there for $200 several times.
