It's a 19" Mag, seen here. http://www.maginnovision.com/product/products-crt-fs-986.htm

Is there anything I can do, any other monitors that won't hurt my eyes or anything? I try and keep the contrast and brighness very low, below 50%. But when I'm gaming that's really not an option, a lot of dark corners etc. etc.

Try setting your REFRESH rate higher, normal default is 60 HZ, but I can crank mine to 85 hz. and it REALLY helps.

settings/Control panel/display/display properties/advanced tab/monitor tab/change the refresh to a HIGHER number.

Yeah it was at 72hz, I set it to 85, so I guess we'll see. I was always under the impression that <72 made no difference.

it will but maybe your monitor doesnt have a anti reflective coating?? light hits the monitor and gets reflected in it = eye hurts.

also if the picture is not sharp it hurts your eyes are a while.

if u spend a lot of time in windows (not gaming) get a TFT. I can sit in front of it for hours.... on my new crt too but at work the crt after work my eyes hurt

That's the problem, I game quite a bit. I don't have excellent eyesight, so I might not notice the difference, as I can't just drop $1,100 on a monitor. I guess I could go to some places and see what it's like.

If you need a bigger monitor check and see if there are any local computer shows in your area. I have one every month about 20 min from my house and there are always TONS of Large screen monitors from closed businesses. Last Oct. I picked up a Mitsubishi 22" FLAT screen for $175, it was only 16 months old.

Still weighs 70 ish pounds but they loaded it in my car for me.

Maybe it's that, I'll bring the resolution down to 800x600, and see. I'm on a 19" but it's pretty far away from me, about three feet.
