Every time, when I start windows, after the windows LOGO screen (loading windows), is it normal to have a dialog box that's written "preparing your system... This may take some minutes" ? like if I were installing windows instead of booting it !
Does this happens to others ? Thanks !

:D You might want to try a "clean boot" of Windows. The following MSKB article refers to WinME...you didn't mention which OS you're using.

It only happens to me when installing certain programs or updating Windows itself . Its not normal for that to happen. A clearn boot as described is a good starting point. When did it start doing this if I may ask ?

It started the 1st day I installed Windows (BTW, it's ME)(actually, I didn't install it really, it was preloaded on the PC). First time I booted it, the PC was attached to an old monitor, and I just couldn't see anything ! Then, I shut down the computer and attached a Compaq Monitor (from My other PC), but I didn't know what it was doing when I shut it down ! So every time I start it up, there is that "Preparing you computer ... this may take a few minutes" dialog box, and strait after, a new dialog box saying "cannot find file extension ".JS"".

I tried a clean boot, still does the same crappy thing ! Anyway, as I am going to reformat it's hard drive as a next step, so I'll see if there is anything different (I wish so !).
Thanks for your help !

you can always try an install on top of your existing windows...
it helps replacing faulty dll's and reg keys...
is suppose it would solve your prob

This is not a great idea, when you have those problems a fresh f-disk and format is nessesary. I and many others have had nothing but problems with installing a OS over an old one.

ususaly, you only install windows over windows when useing a oem version of windows that you got with ur computer lets say from compaq or hp (in my case Alienware). but there crapy backup software modding into windows has like 2 ways to fix problems, fresh format/install or just install over whatevers on ur hdd. i use to do that, but i just do a fresh format, cuz pc's always run there fastest after a nice lil format in my case. its just a pain installing all the divers and appz, and especially games! when u have 15gigs cuz in that.
