The Canon Powershot A60 is a very good camera. 2.0 megapixel, 3x optical zoom, 2.5x digital zoom with a 7.5x combined zoom. If I am not mistaken, it is one of the best 2.0mp cameras on the market, even beating out some of the higher mp cameras out. I bought one for $170 from www.amazon.com. Specs can be found here (http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/a70-60/index.html).

but the one you mentioned takes 4 type AA batteries.
I think you need new batterires every 2hours!!
can you get rechargable ones or not

I've only changed my batteries once in almost 2 months, and thats because I left the cam plugged into the usb cable on accident. But it would be a good idea to buy a couple sets of rechargables for the cam. Thats something I should do soon.

You can get 2200mA rechargeable penlites that'll have more capacity than regular Alkaline batteries! I used those in my 3MP Fuji Finepix and they last very long. If you make sure to always have a pack of regular batteries along as a backup you can never run into any suprises...

make sure to look at the Fuji cameras they get great reviews and are very reasonably priced. I have had mine for 2 years and taken thousands of pics and its still working strong.

I have the Powershot A40(which is basically the same thing). This thing performs like a champ. I researched heavily before buying this camera and chose it over many other more expensive, higher megapixel cameras. I havent been disappointed yet. I paid $250 for this camera alittle over 1 year ago and would still pay that today for it.
Great picture quality, lots of settings, easy to use, and doesnt eat alot of power. Another thing I like is that the display is smooth scrolling (for lack of a better term) meaning that when you move the camera this images on the screen move smoothly and do not studder and jerk. My in-laws have a top line HP camera and the stupid screen jerks and studders like your trying to watch streaming video on a dial-up connection :) . Also the shutter lag isnt a issue with this camera.
If you get this make sure and get some NiMH rechargeable batteries. I got the Powerex charger/battery set at newegg last year with 4 1800mAh batteries, charge that can do AA and AAA batteries, and a car adapter. For me they last for months without recharging. Paid like $37 for it.

Even if you dont get this camera, concider all these things I've mentioned when you do choose one.

I like my Kodak CX6200. It takes decent pictures, and the price is right, at just $99.

I got the Canon A70 before christmas and I'm loving it. It's basicly the same thing as the A60 but a 3.2Mp version. I've really liked it, it has alot of options for tweaking settings manually, and picture quality has been great.

What suprised me the most, was how long the batteries lasted. I've taken over 800 pictures untill now, and only had to charge the batteries twice. This is with huge amounts of tweaking and looking at the taken pics ect.
