can dead pixels develop over time?

hey guys i just got a new lcd.. and i was wondering if dead or stuck pixels develop over time? I have been trying to find out but no one can give me a certain answer just curious.. if my lcd 5 years from now will remain the same? or more dead/stuck pixels develop over time ?

Yup. My last laptop developed maybe 3 or 4 over it's two year time with me.

The new laptop has one bad one (original with the unit). They don't bother me much.

is this the same with regular lcds? i mean are laptops and say desktop lcds the same >

I have 3 dead pixels on my Gateway 15in right now. I don't even notice it unless I look for them. The one dead pixel is new as of approx. a month ago. 2 display blue when the screens black and one displays green when the displays black. If it's white, I have no problem.

i had one on my inspiron 7500, and gotten non since. That thing has been dropped, kicked, sat on, you name it. The case is all cracked and patched up with bonto but still only 1 dead pixel, knock on wood!
