screen shakes when moniter is moved

My mom works at a bank, tonight she was telling me about how her CTR screen shakes when she moves it for the customer to see. She told the IT guy and he is sending her a new one and to throw the old one in the trash. Obviously she is going to bring it home =). Does anyone know what is causing the shaking? I have no idea what make/brand of moniter it is, much less the model, the only thing I know it that it is an older CTR(I don't know how old).

From the sounds of it, the shadow mask or aperture grille has come loose, maybe from the monitor being dropped or something... could be a few other things too though. If the shadow mask is loose (will usually have really bad color splotches too), there's no fix for it other than tube replacement which ain't worth it.

If you get it for free, there's no harm in firing it up and seeing how bad the problem is though... could also be harmless interference or bad soldering joints, or a flaw in the internal degausser too.
