I recently got a Planar 17' LCD monitor. First off theres two problems.

1. I cant get the monitor to work at anything above 1024x768. It will just show about 80% of the right side with losts of flickering. While on the left side all i get is a black background with a bunch of vertical green lines coming down. Then the screen goes black for 2secs, comes back then repeats the process. I've updated to the latest cat drivers 3.8 Didnt help.
I've checked my cables already.

2. Also for anyone who has the same model i cant get the first OSD Menu (Page1) to select anything other then "contrast". The rest of the pages i can select and controll everything.

Anyone have any ideas?

btw its connected via DVI with a Radeon 8500

Well you probably won't be able to get anything above 1024x768, LCD's have a native resolution, and yours is probably 1024x768. They are designed to display at this resolution, no more no less. Trying to crank it up will cause the problems you are having.

the native resolution is 1280x1024. for this monitor.

If that is in fact the correct native resolution at 1280x1024, and it won't show up correctly at that res, then you might have a problem with it. Your vid card shouldn't have any problems going to that resolution so that probably isn't the issue. Maybe try it on a different machine at that resolution and see if it has the same problems? Help you see if it is the monitor or your machine at fault at least. Good luck.

I've got about a dozen Planar's between work and home., most of them PL170's. All good experiences so far, even a touch screen operating for nearly a year now on a manufacturing floor that sometimes reaches 130F. Not to beat a dead horse but you should definitely set your refresh rate to 60 Hz on your adapter and hit the 'auto' button on the front of the monitor after OS bootup to see if everything syncs up. Good luck, I'm interested to hear back on how you come out.
