OK - Got an odd one for ya.

Dell Latitude cpx 500, (Laptop)

14.5" screen.

Oh, the horror. This thing is driving me NUTS. I had it in my hand to actully huck it out the window earlier...

For 6 months, the screen will be dim and flickery. every time I power it up, until it warms up and gets happy and stable (about 30 mins)

Now, I've got it torn apart. Screen and KBD off, and it's not the ribbon. i can wiggle and jiggle the ribbon to my hearts content and nothing will change. But, when I hold the screen by the edges, its solid and bright and happy, and if I let go, its dim-tastic. So theres got to be some kind of connection in there thats gone awry...

a) how do I get inside a Dell laptop screen case?

b) Is there anything I can fix?

c) has anyone else had this problem ever?

i have a presario 2800, now i m facing some problem swith my back light as well. Its been perfectly fine for 1 year, but recently i have had 2 instances when i open the lid, the blacklight flashes adn turns off immediately, i can see the lcd is still on when i flash a light on it and still make out some color. I have to do a reboot to get the light back.

In the past week, its been flickering slightly, ocassionally.
