well I just got my self the Dell FP 1901 and I really love it.... I've also heard that the samsung 191T and the Viewsonic VX900 are awesome as well....

I'm in the market for one of these as well. The 17" displays are great but they're a little small for my tastes, since I'm on a 21" Trinitron right now. If I could find a 19" LCD with 500:1 contrast and 16ms or lower full-cycle latency time, I'd be on it like white on rice.

well the Dell FP 1901 is 600:1 but 25ms....
the Samsung 191T is 500:1 also 25ms
the Viewsonic VX900 is 500:1 or 600:1 I dont remember but its also 25ms.....

I have no problems with gaming at all with my dell FP 1901.... I was lucky enough to get it off ebay for 450$ shipped.... and it came with no dead pixels and 3 years warranty from dell.

ahh i think we have a winner...dell 1901fp may take the cake

how is gaming on that...i heard something about the larger the panel the less noticable a response time of 25 actually is, or did i just make that up? any idea? plus 25 seconds is pretty nice anyways...

The dell fp 1901, samsung 191t/191t+/192t, nec 1980sx, the planar 19" (forgot the name, x91?), etc. all use the exact samsung panel. Btw samsung claims 700:1 and 750:1 on the 191t and 192t now. If you have used any of the 19 inchers I listed then you basically know how the others will perform.

edited out the fp 1900. You can look in thg review of 19" lcds to see which ones use the same panel.

hehehe just to correct you a little.... the FP 1900 had alot of bad reviews due to the contrast ratio 350:1 ... and they re-did it with the 1901 with 600:1.... the FP1901 uses the same panel as the samsung 191T....that's all that I know about for sure.. not sure of the others that you've listed. About Samsung claiming 700:! and 750:1 on the 191T and 192T.... I dont really buy it.... cuz for the price... it seems way too cheap... for that kind of specs...I think its 500:1 but maybe its comparable to other cheap brands with 700:1 maybe... I could be wrong... I just had my monitor for about 1 week and I love it.. no ghosting at all in gaming... I'm very impressed and happy with the price that I payed for....
I like the dell FP1901 and the samsung 191T cuz you can rotate the screen 90 degrees vertically... its cool and if your video card supports it... the screen will automatically adjust...Geforce 4 and up and radeon 8500 and up.....

The viewsonic is 600:1 contrast and it's really nice as far as I am concerned. I play games on it (mostly FPS's) and the only thing I wish were a little better are the dark images. But you get that with any LCD.

I can vouch for the VX900, I have been REALLY happy with it. I went from a 19 Trinitron to this and have had no complaints.

The ViewSonic VP181b is a great monitor. 18", very thin bezel. I've had mine for about 4 months now, and I plan to get a matching one for a dual display.

It can rotate 90 degrees, and has a built-in 4-port USB2.0 hub, neither of which i actually use though. It has both VGA and DVI inputs, which is nice if you have a VGA card now and plan on upgrading in the future.

Works perfectly on all my FPS's, including Unreal Tourney, BF1942, CS, RTCW:ET, and Halo. Brightness isn't a problem, sometimes I even turn the brightness down.

I've got a 191T and am definitely noticing ghosting in games(Quake 3, Max Payne 2, Call of Duty, Halo), but the image quality is so beautiful I'm willing to put up with it.
