I notice some noticable "shimmering" (kind of looks like lines are going through the text, but not really lines... dont really know what else to call it other than "shimmer") with my 17in. samsung 173v LCD monitor, regarding text, and when I am in light colored web pages. Even in darker colors, I can notice the shimmering, but its less noticeable under those conditions... I'm just wondering what could be causing this effect, because quite frankly, its extremely annoying. My resolution is @ 1280x1024 @60 hz (any higher and it gets kinda weird-ish, even though my monitor is supposed to be able to support up to 75..) and I'm running a geforce 2 mx400 that I bought in korea (it was cheap, and yes, i'm looking for an upgrade soon). Could this "shimmering" be attributed to my graphics card HARDWARE, DRIVERS, or is it a problem with the monitor itself? Any help would be appreciated.

Most likely the videocard signal. Replacing it with a decent quality videocard should work.

But also try:

-New set of cables
-Resyncing the monitor
