hey guys, I'm using a ATI 9600 Pro with a Samsung Syncmaster 172B.

If i buy a DVI to VGA adapter will it be nite and day? or just a waste of money since my lcd is analog.

something like this.... http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=&Section_Id=1753&pcount=&Product_Id=108267#

TIA

If you convert the DVI output on your 9600 to an analog VGA connector, and since your LCD is analog only, I don't think there would be any benefit at all. Maybe marginal, but not that much of a difference between direct analog and digital converted to analog.

The analog conversion will be a choke point for the signal. The extra quality possible with a DVI display would be lost during the conversion to analog, because the analog interface can't accomodate the "larger" DVI signal. You will see no difference.
