I was wondering if anybody could tell me where I could get a cold cathode for my laptop computer so I can see my screen again. I have been searching and I can't seem to find one. Any info would be grateful...thx....

I think that obtaining the correct make / model cold cathode would be incredibly difficult, not to mention how hard it would be to install the thing without killing your display.

On the other hand, a new laptop LCD can be over $500!!!

Hrmm, I think that what you might like to try and do would be to ever so carefully open up the laptop, and see if there are any loose connections running to the hinge at the back - it sounds like a loose wire caused the cathode to not run (since those things are almost impossible to burn out - their life span is something like 200,000 hours of use )

It really just depends on what kind of lappy it is. Almost ALL laptops use the same manufacturer of LCD's which is samsung. A new 14.1" can be had for 150 bucks. I think changing the CCL will be near impossible, although i have seen the lamps, most take around 4-6 of them, and are around 5 bucks each. Main problem is they are very hard to install.
