i can't decide. i know the nec has a trinitron aperature grill tube and the viewsonic has a shadowmask tube. i understand that aperature grills have the two horizontal lines which sometimes are noticeable....i also know the viewsonic's tube isn't flat and it uses a weird glass to make it look flat right? while the trinitron tube is ACTUALLY flat? i've heard some people complain about its blurry text?
i will be using the monitor mostly for web surfing, gaming, and a little photoshop. so i guess pretty much everything. i'd check them out in stores but none of the stores near me (best buy, compusa) dont carry "high end" monitors.... i'll be using this monitor at 1280 x 1024 with a 9500 pro.
so which monitor looks better in both graphics AND text....which would you suggest? thanks!

I have an Iiyama VM pro 452 as per the sig and to be honest it rocks. It uses the trinitron I think o.O The two lines are only barely visible when you have white pages on the screen, in other scenarios they are virtually invisible. The trinitron is dead flat but damn, it's thick! About 1.5cm of glass.
The only problem I have had with blurry text is when you run it at high resolutions and have the refresh at max. It's slightly fuzzy @ 1280x1024 @ 85hz, but the problem goes away if I select a lower resolution.

bump. i got my dell coupons ready... they expire on the 3rd. so i need to make a decision. it comes down to either the g90f at $180 shipped or the 991 at $195 shipped. here is what i'm thinking in terms of pros and cons:
991:
superbright mode for games and movies
navi software adjustments
aperatrue grill tube
actualy FLAT tube
text is sometimes blurry?? (maybe without using the navi software)
i have a g90fb-2 its the black version..i can tell you the screen is defintely prefectly flat..and shadowmask is way better or so i hear from people who have switched from aperature...it doesnt have superbright..but there program that can immitate that feature if you really want it, i love this monitor its a big beauty, plus the quality of viewsonics are second to none.

well i ordered the NEC from dell thursday, and got it this morning. so far it looks great. superbright is a really cool feature for games and movies. text is crisp. and i love the real estate i now get at 1280 x 1024.
You did good in my opinion...Shadow mask versus Aperature grill is well no comparision...I like NEC/Mitsubishi monitors...Last forever and the DiamondTron tubed monitors they sell are simply awesome...;)
