I'm going away to college in just a few short days, and i need to get a new motherboard.

First i'm building a super-cheap computer for my parents since this is the only one we have. The plan was to pick myself up a new motherboard and a new xp2500. and i would give them my old ones. of course i would give them a bit of money for the upgrade. So all i need is a cheap NF2 board that i can overclock my new 2500 on. I don't need raid, or SATA. just onboard lan and sound.(yes i still use onboard sound). I was looking at some of the cheap new Nf2 400 boards. any help would be great. I want to push the cpu as high as i can with out all the bells and whistles on the motherboard. Remember I'm in college and I'm BROKE.

Hello All, The new Soltek 400 MoBo with the single-channel is suppose to be quite good, I believe NewEgg sells it for $76.00 but are out of stock currently. I use the Shuttle AN35N Ultra dual-channel board which will give you a 210 X 11 with a 2500+ Barton no problem. MWave has this for ~ $64.00, NewEgg for $77.00, I think the 8RDA+ is $79.00 @NewEgg and will give you excellent results as well. Good Luck!
Regards, Balrog

Edit: Anandtech has a review of the Soltek single-channel board, 225FSB with 2500+ Barton, looks like a good inexpensive game/OC rig.

My suggestion..... use an abacus. Word processing was a pain though :D

I'd get the 8rda+ if I were you. Its tried and true. Or maybe spring for the nf7 (non-s) for 92 bucks shipped at newegg.
