need help with bios

how do i get into it
i have a compaq presario 5000 1.2ghz
it seems like nothing wants to work
i need to get into bios so i can overclock my processor

sorry but most compq,hp and dells have locked bios that you cant get into unless some one else knows of a back door to these bios

Try any one of these keys when you get the BIOS screen (at boot):

Del
Esc
F1
F2
F5
F6
F8
F10
Insert
Ctrl+Esc

I have seen many strange ways to get into BIOSes on Compaq/HP/older Gateway models.

If none of these keys work, then tinman5567 is likely correct, you won't be able to get into the BIOS.

But, that should not be the case. Always try looking up your model number at the appropriate mfg's site and download teh PDF for your model.

Or you can use Google and a good search term like:

Compaq Presario 5000 manual pdf

should get you something, even a forum link from someone who is or was after the exact same information =)
