Hi,

I am trying to change a heatsink for my cpu, however, the stock heatsinks thermal paste are stinking on my cpu. Can anyone tell me a safe way to clean it off? Like what kind of stuff i can use on top of it, and if using q-tip will leave any fiber on it causing it to over heat? SOrry for this dumb question, i am a newbie and won't want to destroy my cpu. =p

You can also use aftershave.. I've done it several times, and always have nice results.

I used a razor blade once, that was when my HSF came with that thermal tape, then I just wiped it off with a tissue, then some rubbing achole.

91% isopropyl alchahol, (normal isopropyl is 70% and 50%, the 50% will never say disinfectant or something like and only massage becasue it is very weak), I personally use CVS 91% alchahol.

I've always used isopropyl alcohol, 70% or 91% with Q-tips.
