Here is what i have

A7n8x-x
XP2400
2x256 samsung pc3200 (400mhz) CL 2.5 RAM

I spent some time trying to get my FSB to 400 with out killing my CPU.
Here is what i have tried

Default is FSB 133
Multi is 7.5/15.0

Multi set to 10.0x
FSB set to 200 - this should equal a CPU speed of 2.0ghz, which is stock speed for the 2400

I get no post with these settings, have to reboot, and will get message saying my rig has been underclocked please enter the bios to change cpu settings.

So after playing around, i finally was able to get it to post with:

9.5 multi
200 FSB
But this is only 1.9GHZ

So im trying to figure out whats causing me not to overclock. I mean, its great to be able to run at 400mhz FSB, but i would like to OC a little.

A friend of mine here on the boards, GLOCK19OWNER, suggested to try something. So i did.

Set FSB 200
Set Multi 10.5
Set Vcore to 1.75

No post, he suggested i have just an crap processor that won't OC. Any suggestions. I trust Glock, just wanted to see if anyone else had some opionins or stuff to try.

Do you have a higher voltage setting in your BIOS? Do you have a decent power supply?

he-he "400 power supply"

I hope you have a brand name and just didn't list it.

Here's what a "420 power supply" just did:

was it necessary to "side step" the language filter?

well, its decent. 400w. At 400FSB my voltages are very stable and with in range on all rails.

I'd ditch the asus board and blow another $82 on the Epox 8rda+.
I'm currently at 2100Mhz with a 1700+ T-Bred JIGUB, and i'ts running pretty strong on a 400 watt Antec with this board.
Do yourself a favor, and make the Asus board up for one of your future enemies.....LOL.

I, too have an 8RDA+ and a 2400+ and i'm running at 400fsb and 2.3, i also have a 400watt antec as well. If you have a crappy stepping, then that may also be an issue. What's the stepping of that bugger?

Did you try increasing the ram voltage a bit? You might need it a 200. Also did you go right from 133 to 200? If so, you should have gone up gradually and worked the ram in a little. Like using prime 95 to break the ram in. Overclocking is a process it has to be done gradually to get results. If you go up 10mhz great, then another 10mhz. Lets say you run into a problem at 180 try things one at a time to fix it, then you find out its the ram voltage, ok, keep going. You have to take it one step at a time. Trust me this method works, I have done it many times in the past. Also, I don't know if you can on an A7N8X-x but try upping the vdd voltage a bit, too. Good Luck!

Well I imagine that there would be a better way to describe your feelings on this Asus board. I am one of many people who have had great luck with it. Not all boards can be perfect out of the box and not all are so easy to play with. I really enjoy my Asus board and it is rock solid, even when I abuse it. Let's just clean up the language and be more professinal in out replies. Thanks!
