Having had some skill in painting (automotive), I've decided to be brave and change the colour of the outer casing of a crt I'm about to buy today.

I haven't decided yet but the two candidates are the Philips 109B and Hitachi CM721 19"crts (leaning towardz 109B).

What i need to know before doing this is warranty info. Will they except a diff colour monitor even if i hadn't pulled anything apart electronically?

Also, has anyone here had a cosmetically modded monitor die but no RMA accepted?

Is there a safe way to do this?...... ie test the thing for a certain period and then dye it? Or is there a monitor testing proggy that will tell me the health of the monitor.

If it's too much of a hassle i won't bother but.........

Thankx!

edit**

Here's what I'm looking to do

Example (http://www.pimprig.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2212&highlight=back+in+black)

I'll pracitice on my old 15"er, then proceed with the Philips

Opinionz please, don't let me learn the hard way  ...

Yeah, it's going to void your warranty.

This new Philips 109B I purchased is fricken awesome, love the lightframe3 technology and sharpness. Anyone want a good 19"Crt consider this one. I paid Jack**** for it and couldn't expect anymore. LOVE IT :D
