Hey guys. Ever since I got this monitor (used from a friend of mine) I've noticed that one side is a little brighter than the other. I really only notice it on a black or dark screen. It's almost like theres a faint curved vertical line on the screen, and on the right side of it everything is slightly brighter. If I turn the brightness down it goes away, but so does a lot of detail. The monitor is a Gateway2000 Vivitron 15. It's the same as a Sony Trinitron. Other than the brightness thing it works great. Anybody ever heard of anything like that? TIA.

You don't have an interference problem do you? Any speakers or other EMI emitting device near the monitor?

Probably not the problem but it would be real nice for you if it was. :)

I do have a speaker sitting near that side. But I didn't think that would be it since I never really had a problem with my other moniter and these speakers. But I'll move the speaker just for the hey of it. Any other ideas?

After moving the speaker, try degaussing it, and then turning it on and off. If it is the speaker, and the speaker has been there for quite a while, the damage might already be done.

Is it a computer speaker, or more of a stereo speaker?

It's a computer speaker. I've had them for a while and they've never had an effect on anything else. I'm like 99% sure they're sheilded. That's why I'm thinking it's not it. And this monitor doesn't have an actual degauss button. But when I turn it off and on it shakes like it is degaussing. The only thing I'm thinking now is that maybe at my friend's house they had something sitting near it that messed it up a little bit.
